'서로를 잘 안다는 것'

어제 아내가 한국에 잘 도착했습니다. 공항 도착 출구에서 아내를 기다리다 문득 이런 생각을 했습니다. "아무리 많은 사람들이 출구를 빠져나온다 해도 내가 아내를 알아보지 못할 일은 없다." 너무도 당연한 소리지만, 누군가와 서로를 알고 있다는 것은 어떤 혼잡함 가운데에도 결코 서로를 놓치지 않고 발견할 수 있다는 진리가 아닐까 생각했습니다. 우리가 각자 예수님과 얼굴을 맞대로 만나는 날에도 그렇지 않을까요? 주님이 나를 잘 아시고 내가 주님을 잘 알기에 이 세상의 출구를 빠져나가는 날, 마중 오신 주님을 만나는 것이 결코 어색하지 않고, 오히려 오래 알던 분을 만나는 듯 반가울 것입니다. 그 주님께서 오늘도 우리와 함께 하고 계십니다.

 

Yesterday, my wife arrived safely in Korea. As I waited for her at the airport exit, a thought suddenly crossed my mind: “No matter how many people walk through those doors, I would never fail to recognize my wife.”

It may sound obvious, but I realized that truly knowing someone means that even in the midst of crowds and confusion, you will never miss each other—you will always recognize one another.

Will it not be the same on the day we meet Jesus face to face? Because the Lord knows me and I know Him, on the day I step through the final exit of this world, meeting the Lord who comes to welcome me will not feel unfamiliar. Rather, it will be like seeing someone I have known for a long time—filled with joy and deep familiarity.

And that very Lord is with us even today.
